12-Week Healing Support Circle
Grace for Grieving Mothers is a faith-centered support circle designed for mothers who have experienced the loss of a child. Offered twice a year (April–June and October–December), this 12-week cohort provides a safe, compassionate space to process grief, find strength in community, and encounter God’s healing presence.
Through guided conversations, scripture, prayer, and shared experiences, participants are gently supported on their journey from deep loss toward renewed purpose. Each session fosters connection, hope, and restoration—reminding every mother that she is not alone.
The program concludes with a special graduation and remembrance ceremony, honoring each child’s legacy and empowering mothers to carry their love forward with purpose.
“You are not here by accident. You are held by grace.”
Dear Beautiful, Beloved Mothers,
Thank you for joining the sisterhood of Grace for Grieving Mothers.
I want to personally welcome you. It is truly an honor to walk alongside you on this journey. Whether your loss occurred during pregnancy, shortly after birth, or many years ago, I recognize the courage it takes to be here.
From the very beginning, I want you to know:You are not alone.
God sees you. He knows your heart, and He cares deeply for you. I have been praying for each of you even before this day—for those present and for those who will join us in time—that God, in His perfect timing, will connect hearts and bring each mother into this circle of care and healing.
My name is Sonia Anigbe, and by God’s grace, I have been entrusted with the birth of this ministry.
It began quietly… in my heart… in 2020.
After losing my daughter Femi, I found myself walking through a depth of grief I had never known.
In the midst of that pain, we were encouraged to join a support group called GriefShare. GriefShare is a well-known, faith-based grief support program created to help individuals navigate loss through biblical teaching, video sessions, and group discussions. It was developed by Sam Hodges and John Baker to provide structured support for those grieving different types of loss.
Not really knowing what to expect, I hesitated for a while—but eventually, I found the courage to sign up.
I didn’t go alone. I went with my husband and our two children.
When we arrived, the people were warm and welcoming. I even recognized many familiar faces in the room. But as the session went on, I realized something within me felt… disconnected.
Many in the room had experienced loss—some had lost spouses, others parents, and a few even shared about losing pets. While every loss is real and meaningful, I found myself sitting there realizing that, aside from my family, I was the only one who had lost a child.
And in that moment… something shifted.
The quiet voices of pain began to rise again.
Shame.
Regret.
Fear.
Panic.
Anxiety…...
It was through my experience with GriefShare that something began to grow quietly in my heart.
I realized that while support groups are valuable, there was a deep need for a space specifically for mothers who have lost a child—a space where their grief is fully understood, where they do not feel alone in their experience, and where they can speak freely without fear or comparison.
Over time, through prayer, reflection, and the gentle leading of the Holy Spirit, God began to place a vision on my heart.
A vision for a circle of mothers…
A sisterhood…
A safe and compassionate space rooted in faith, healing, and love.
A place where no mother has to carry her grief alone.
And from that place of pain, prayer, and purpose…Grace for Grieving Mothers was born.
Over time, God began intentionally connecting me with other mothers who had also lost their children. These were not random encounters—they were divine connections.
Each conversation, each story, reminded me that many women were walking this journey quietly… and often alone.
So I began to pray.
I prayed for each one of them.
I asked God to meet them where they were.
I asked Him to bring comfort, healing, and peace to their broken hearts—just as He was doing for me.
During the COVID season, we began meeting virtually.
It was simple… yet powerful.
We encouraged one another, shared when we could, and prayed together.
Over time, those moments grew into monthly in-person gatherings—spaces filled with compassion, understanding, and sisterhood.
And something beautiful began to unfold.
Some of the women who were part of those early gatherings went on to discover deeper purpose. A few even served on the Femi’s Heart Foundation Board, and today, they are building meaningful work in honor of their children.
Looking back now, I can clearly see:
God was already building this ministry.
Even when I didn’t fully understand.
Even when I felt fear, doubt, and insecurity.
Grace for Grieving Mothers.
A space of healing.
A space of connection.
A space where no mother walks alone.
A Gentle Reflection
Maybe this is how God wants to move in your life too.
Maybe this is a place where healing begins…
where purpose is rediscovered…
where your child’s legacy continues in ways you cannot yet see.
Who knows what God will do in you by the end of these 12 weeks?
But one thing is certain:
